So glad to have this delicious spot in the neighborhood! Good Thai at a very reasonable price and in a very pleasant and friendly atmosphere. The dining area was still decorated for the holidays when I went and I was surprised to find it fairly empty around lunch on a weekend. The menu is not long and I wish for more veg options, but it's a great option for lunch takeout.

YOU WILL NOT REGRET DINING HERE--on a brisk but clear-skied autumn afternoon, I and a few friends walked into Baht seeking bathrooms, quick libations, and outlets. When we exited, street and other miscellaneous city lights illuminated the jet black night, a glacial wind blasted through the streets, and I don't think any of us cared at all. I particularly entered Baht already full from lunch, and upon setting my eyes on the menu, I regretted having a full stomach. I searched within the depths of my stomach, and more pertinently searched within the depths of my Bank of America mobile banking app, and sadly settled for a drink and glass of water. Throughout our time at the bar, some small, unconscious, highly dramatic part of me lamented that I'd have to settle for marking this place on my Maps app and returning to eat next time I can get to the city. And most fortunately, unbeknownst to me, the kind-voiced bartender (gliding swiftly through the establishment as if the floor was solid ice and he an Olympic skater) was determined to ensure we would not have to settle that night. First came the Ku Chai Tod, which he very hospitably dropped after my friends and I interrogated him, a bit puzzled about how such a clean and aesthetically delightful place could have open tables on a weekend night. Discovering extra space in our stomachs, we devoured these crackly, crispy chive dumplings and our bewilderment only grew. My eyes ever darting back to the menu, the bartender disclosed to us more about Baht--originally a family restaurant (Arunee Thai) cultivated by his wife's first-generation parents. His hospitality was brimming--not in the cloying, transactional sense you'd find from the owner of some uppity $40/entree place searching for a Michelin star (and your wallet's approval)--in the way that your lovely grandmother would always meet your gaze after a period of separation, smile on her face and with an irresistible smell wafting from her kitchen. After serving the community for decades, it came time to hand the torch to the next generation, and over the past few years, they conceived and executed Baht. On the sixth day of my trip, my wallet suffocating in my back pocket and gasping for mercy, I--like a tyrant unrelenting--showed absolutely none: "Could I actually get one order of the larb fries?" The bartender--now known to me as half of this graceful husband-and-wife duo who I'd watched skate throughout Baht all night, taking care of every single customer--disappeared into the back of house. Heidegger has a lesser known essay (Building, Dwelling, Thinking) on what it means to dwell in a place, versus merely existing in it. I definitely felt like I dwelled the night I spent at Baht; in a city often lacking attentiveness and breeding ironic feelings of social alienation, I found a respite from all of that in Baht. All of this seems plainly obvious and logical now knowing that at its core, Baht is a family-owned restaurant. But I've not walked into many places in NYC and felt like I was at home, and usually the other places in the city where I feel like this are other friends' apartments. The owners of Baht are so aggressively hospitable and kind, in a way that will make you feel like you're a special customer, until you pivot your head around and starkly realize that you are, in fact, not special at all. And I think what I've realized now weeks removed from my trip is that when you dine at Baht, you are genuinely family. The larb fries dropped on the counter, and they suspiciously looked like chicken wings instead of potatoes. A true Sherlock Holmes, my hypothesis was confirmed when the bartender came out a minute later with larb fries and apologetically said he dropped the larb wings in the fryer initially. No mistakes, only happy accidents, right? After a couple bites, I almost cancelled my night's plans right then and there; I'd say I was about one chicken satay away from voiding all my social contracts. Next time I'm in the city, this will be my first stop.

First timer here and was blown away with FLAVORS! The Espresso martini is so good! It is exactly as described, a cup of coffee with a blueberry muffin on the side. Absolutely delish! Moving on to the food. I love flavorful food and this is the place for that! Larb wings are not just a good spicy sauce but the wings are actually SEASONED. Calamari was cooked to perfection and the spicy aioli is good too. The mango salad is very fresh, nicely done, wanted more. The Khao Pad Poo is excellent. Didn't think much of lump crab and rice but the combo with the Thai chimichurri (secret sauce) is such a good combination. Crying Tiger, perfected skirt steak with the jeaw sauce, you will cry! Service is very good, your order is not just taken but they actually check on you and not in an overbearing way. Staff is friendly. Seems as if I timed weekend dinner just right because we sat down and there were only a few people and when I looked up again the place was nice filled with various diverse customers. I don't normally get excited about food but again I say FLAVORFUL and the ambiance is nice too. Not stuff very calm, neighborhood gem most definitely! Will be back for more.

Baht is a welcomed new addition to 37th Avenue, serving creative cocktails and tasty food in a modern, hip environment. We came here for a late lunch and enjoyed happy hour nibbles and cocktails. We enjoyed it so much that we came back two weeks later for dinner. Both times we came to Bhat we were helped by their friendly staff, who are happy to talk you through the menu and make recommendations of their favorite items. For our happy hour visit we started with the Olieng, a signature cocktail which is their version of an espresso martini containing blueberry vodka. This inventive cocktail was not quite what I was expecting, since I didn't realize it contained blueberry vodka, which I don't particularly care for. After drinking it I switched to the Lychee martini which hit the spot and was able to strike the balance between refreshing with a hint of sweetness without being overwhelmingly sweet. We ordered the Satay, the Egg Rolls, and the empanada. The Satay was cooked and seasoned well and topped with a warm peanut sauce that was velvety and paired nicely with the spices on the chicken. The empanadas seemed to be their version of a curry puff, it was filled with potatoes and curried chicken and an avocado aioli on the side. These empanadas were fried perfectly without feeling greasy and the filling was flavorful and paired well with the aioli. The egg rolls, stuff with carrots, glass noodles, and cabbage and served with a plum sauce. These were fried to a golden perfection. And served hot. This dish is not an strongly flavored as the others but was a nice compliment to our table. Upon our return two weeks later, I enjoyed the Larb Wings and the Khao Moo Dang. The Larb wings were topped with a blend of sweet, sour, and spicy larb giving these wings a unique yet flavorful kick. The Khao Moo Dang is a dish comprised of roast pork with a velvet sauce, chinese broccoli, and jasmine rice. The pork in this dish is tender and flavorful. Enjoy a perfect bite with a little bit of each of the components on the dish. I highly recommend this dish as well as it is a great option for those less familiar with Thai food or for those who don't eat spicy food. One critique I have and I hope the owners or staff see is that when seated across from the bar, the TVs are distracting. Perhaps flipping the tables by 90 degrees would allow those at the tables to see the TVs with being so distracting.

We recently ventured out to Jackson Heights to try this highly reviewed restaurant and it did not disappoint. It was later in the afternoon on a Sunday and the restaurant was pretty quiet. The space is ample and modern. We shared 1 small dish and 3 bigger ones between three of us. They were all flavorful and the portions were generous. This is a solid Thai spot and I'd definitely come back if I lived nearby. Service was friendly and attentive at all times.

I've been to Baht a few times now and I'm consistently delighted that it's come to the neighborhood. I tend to frequent lots of the Thai restaurants on Woodside Avenue (Little Thailand) where there's a high concentration of them, but it's also nice to have this Jackson Heights option with a fantastic happy hour. Initially reading about how Baht's drink menu was co-conceived with a Death & Co bartender is what made me want to visit, and indeed, we've now tried the entire cocktail list across our visits and have been impressed. They are all well-balanced, made with high quality ingredients, presented nicely, and provide much more sophisticated options than truly any of the other Thai restaurants in the area (sorry!). If you like sweet drinks, this is not the drinks menu for you, but if you're into cocktails, this is absolutely your jam. The Rupert is a coconutty drink unlike any of the gloopy cloying coconut drinks you may have had in the past and is instead light, refreshing, and interesting, and the Green Jacket is a tried and true that at least one of us has ordered every time we've come here. I'm not usually an espresso martini girlie but the Olieng is made really superb with their blueberry vodka (sounds weird, just try it!!). Remarkably, they offer happy hour on the weekends around lunchtime (genius) and all day on Tuesdays. I've had the empanadas a few times and they are fun, and what I am excited to order again and have been craving is Baht's crab fried rice, the Khao Pad Poo. Wow, the amount of lump crab on top and the great balance of flavors, accentuated by the nam jim sauce (they call it Thai chimichurri but IMO it's even more delicious than chimichurri) is making me hungry just writing this. The bartender who is usually working here is SUPER friendly, kind, and attentive and makes excellent drinks, and I have found the service to be exceptional. Bathroom is spacious and has beautiful penny floor tiles, and the space overall has a nice airy feel. There's a private room that seems fairly large and would be nice for a larger group, and I'm excited to return regularly here and continue re-ordering the Khao Pad Poo!

Have been here three times in the past two weeks, and the food and drinks are so consistently good. I always get the Kee Mao, but I've had bites of pad Thai and See Eiw, all good! The empanadas are also very tasty, love the aioli they pair it with. My favorite drink is the Green Jacket and The Rupert. I can't wait to come by during one of their happy hours.
